Marina holds a PhD from the Binghamton University-SUNY. Her career builds upon a long-term ethnographic experience in the South American Andes, where she has developed her research within critical theories of the state and anthropology of development. Her recent research has focused on the material and social dynamics mineral extraction (mostly copper) conveys in northern Chile. Marina is also assistant profesor at the Instituto de Arqueología y Antropología -San Pedro de Atacama- Universidad Católica del Norte.
